Stick making is one of the oldest crafts known to man, dating back to shepherds tending their flocks of sheep and whiling away those long lonely days and nights by crafting cleeks and staffs. These were not only beautiful tools, but they were practical in tending their sheep and useful in fending off beasts and other intruders.
The American National Cane Club (ANCC) was founded in 1988. Each member of the American National Cane Club has their own unique way of crafting and carving walking sticks and canes. In order to inform and aid one another, we meet on the last Tuesday of each month.
The American National Cane Club has salary free officers and is looking forward to increasing our membership locally and nationally. We want to keep our organization open minded and informative. Any input is welcomed by all. It is our intention to have at least one cane show and sale yearly as we have had over the past several years.
